Practical Coach Kitchen Teaching Hotel?

Restaurant L’Étoile is the restaurant of the Teaching Hotel of the Hotel Management School Maastricht (HMSM), where we serve lunch and dinner to both internal and external guests. The Teaching Hotel consists of 26 rooms, a bar, restaurant and meeting rooms. The hotel is run by the first-year students as part of the practical curriculum. As practical coaches, staff members teach the students about food production, service, rooms division and events.

You will be working with two other practical coaches in the kitchen as well as a team of hospitality professionals in the other departments of the Teaching Hotel. You also will be working with a weekly rotating mix of national and international first-year HMSM students.

• The kitchen processes to support our restaurant and banqueting services
• To run the kitchen operations independently, while focusing on the practical education of our first-year students
• You contribute to a positive financial and operational performance of the kitchen of the Teaching Hotel
• Supervising and managing our first-year practical students, to be able to co-assess students
• Developing students and recognizing and stimulating individual talent
• Maintaining hygiene standards, knowledge of HACCP procedures
• You are willing to work flexible hours and you have excellent motivational coaching and communication skills, both written and spoken, in English as well as Dutch
• You have experience as a chef and you are passionate about what you do

A position for 0.9 FTE, in a salary scale awarded depending on your qualifications and experience at level 7 (min. €2.847 – max. €3.890 for a full-time appointment). To this is added holiday allowance (8%) and a fixed year-end bonus (8.3%), a generous number of holidays, professionalization and employability hours and a complete offer to work vitally and with pleasure.

We are looking for a temporary practical coach for the kitchen of the Teaching Hotel for the period March 2025 until mid July 2025.
