Community Coordinator and Academic Advisor for the Built Environment Program
Loes has been working at Zuyd for six years and has a varied role within the Built Environment program. She is involved in student recruitment, provides academic advising, and teaches courses. It is precisely this combination that makes her work so enjoyable.
A working day at Zuyd
“Every day is different. One moment she’s working as a community coordinator on the recruitment plan or overseeing video productions. The next, she’s talking to students as an academic advisor.
‘As a community coordinator, for example, I make sure that prospective students get a good sense of the program during an open house. I also work on campaigns and content to raise the program’s profile.’””
Education is a bit like prosecco: there's always something going on
Interacting with students is what makes her work truly special. “As a student advisor, I talk to students about their studies and guide them through important decisions. The best part is seeing how students develop. They grow here, graduate, and then confidently take the next step.”
At Zuyd, the student comes first. Loes sees the core values—close-knit, sincere, and trusting—reflected in her work every day. “Students often pop in to see us. Sometimes with a question, but sometimes just for a chat. The door is always open, and they know that. Thanks to the variety and the contact with students, my work at Zuyd is as bubbly as prosecco.”
Loes is happy with Zuyd as an employer. “I have a lot of freedom in my work. Being visible to students is my top priority, but I can also organize my work flexibly. For example, I can work from home, and there’s understanding if I have to go home unexpectedly for my children. That creates a nice balance between work and private life.”
