We value a good induction of new employees. We find it important that you land well and can start working quickly. We offer you the right facilities, support and personal attention. But we also appeal to your sense of responsibility and your own initiative. Not only in the first week, but also in the following months, we will help you to start your career at Zuyd. We also expect you to play an active role in this.
In short, we pay attention to the development of current and new employees.
As soon as you are hired, your supervisor will receive a checklist. It contains important topics that will be addressed during the first 100 days of the introductory period.

A few weeks before starting, you will receive an e-mail containing a link to a website for new employees. Here you get to know the organisation in preparation for your start at Zuyd. Part of this website is a page especially for new teachers with information about what Zuyd expects and how you will be supported in your development.
On the first working day, you will receive a newsletter from HR containing a link to the ‘New Employees’ group page on our intranet. This contains relevant information for your first working weeks at Zuyd.
You will be assigned a buddy to help you settle in and get to know Zuyd. This buddy will guide and inform you about the organisation, the culture and how education works. Your buddy will involve other colleagues to inform you about certain matters.
Zuyd organises a monthly introduction meeting for new employees. During this meeting, opened by one of the members of the Executive Board, you will meet other new colleagues within Zuyd. All kinds of interesting facts about Zuyd are told and the most important HR topics are discussed.
After 100 days, new employees are invited to have coffee with a member of the Executive Board. A good moment to share your experiences with the Executive Board.

Are you a beginning lecturer? If so, you will take part in the Basic Didactic Competence Programme, the BDB, as soon as possible after joining the company. The aim of this is that, as a beginning teacher, you feel competent to supervise the development of students into professionals. The BDB consists of three parts: a start module, a follow-up module and the BKE (Basic Qualification Examination).
The BDB starter module gives you a good foundation to start in your position as a teacher. Topics such as learning climate, elementary didactics and presentation skills are covered in the starter module. It also makes the link between learning objectives, learning activities and assessment.
The follow-up module BDB goes deeper into the topics of teaching, guiding students, designing education, testing and assessment and professional teaching. The BKE is aimed at developing expertise in testing and assessment.
We want to continuously improve our induction process. That is why we also ask you as a new colleague about your experiences.
After 100 days and after 365 days, you will receive a questionnaire. And at the end of the introductory meeting, we will ask you for tips.
