Community Coordinator and Academic Advisor for the Built Environment Program
Loes has been working at Zuyd for six years and has a varied role within the Built Environment program. She is involved in student recruitment, provides academic advising, and teaches courses. It is precisely this combination that makes her work so enjoyable.
In her work, Loes works closely with students. She primarily supports part-time students who are struggling or falling behind.
“I don’t just look at the program itself, but also at what someone needs to be able to move forward,” she explains. “Sometimes that’s really different from the standard path.”
Together with students, she looks for an approach that fits their lives and situations. With care, trust, and an open attitude, she helps them regain control of their studies.

For Loes, it made sense to stay at Zuyd. “Zuyd has been a constant in my life for almost half my life,” she says. That bond has only grown stronger over the years.
What drives her is helping people grow. “It gives me energy when someone is able to move forward again, especially when it doesn’t come easily,” she explains. In her view, that’s the essence of good education: seeing the person behind the student.
She truly feels like an ambassador for Zuyd. The core values—close-knit, sincere, and trusting—suit her well. “If that weren’t the case, I probably wouldn’t have stayed here,” she says with a smile.
