Stefano's story

He has been a lecturer and researcher at Built Environment for over four years:

"As a student, I enjoyed studying at Zuyd. And during my master's program, my interest in learning in practice grew. That's quite important when you consider all the changes in the world. Here, you work with an increasing number of enthusiastic colleagues on lots of fun, innovative activities.

That's why I enjoy working at Zuyd."

A working day at Zuyd

“Luckily, I don't work from 9 to 5! And at Zuyd, I don't have to. My day starts with coffee, and then I make one new national or international LinkedIn contact.

After that, I ask my colleagues how things are going with the groups for which I am a study career counselor and examiner. In between, I might chat with a colleague about a research project. At exactly 12:34 p.m., I do half an hour of stretching exercises in our ZenZone.

In the afternoon, I focus on productivity. I never say I'm busy, but that I'm doing lots of fun things!

My top priority: having spontaneous chats with students. That's how I learn the most about the quality of our education and research."

At Zuyd, you are given the space to coach and grow

“I want to be like a soccer coach for our students. They are the players.

Companies are looking for young talent, just like scouts. My lectures are the training sessions. And the assessment moments are our matches. I tell students that, as a trainer, I focus on developing their talents. One student is a better goalkeeper and another is a good captain. In this way, I form a ‘team’ for each teaching block.

Zuyd is a large organization. As a result, changes sometimes take a while. At the same time, you have a lot of freedom.

That's why I would definitely recommend Zuyd to friends or family."
