Coordinator and lecturer professional skills in arts

About the position

At the unique international programme Interdisciplinary Arts (iArts), we prepare students for their interdisciplinary art practice through an intensive four-year programme. During their studies they are introduced to a broad variety of themes, theories and practices. In order to help students develop themselves in this area, iArts uses project-based learning (with societal partners) and programmatic assessment. We are looking for a coordinator of the first year, who is also able to teach the professional skills required.

As a lecturer in professional skills, you will be teaching first-year students in areas such as reflective practices, giving and receiving feedback, setting up personal learning goals, learning how to learn in a collaborative and heterogeneous learning environment, and other relevant professional skills for an interdisciplinary art practice. Additionally, you will act as a mentor for several students, assisting them in their study path and progress.

Furthermore, you will become part of the programme team of the iArts programme, acting as coordinator of the first year. This will require strong organisational and communication skills. In this team, you are also co-responsible for the strategic direction of the study programme. Having experience within (interdisciplinary) arts, or at least an affinity with these is essential.

The team and environment

You will join a small team of highly motivated and dedicated lecturers who still have a strong connection with, or practice in, the arts. The atmosphere is friendly and informal, with flexible working hours.

What we ask

• At least a bachelor’s degree, preferably a master’s degree in art and/or education

• Knowledge of and experience with programmatic assessment

• Expertise and lecturing experience in the field of professional skills

• Strong organisational and communication skills

• Experience in, or affinity with, (interdisciplinary) art practices/education

What we offer

• This vacancy is for 0.4 FTE. We want to start with a one-year contract. Of course, our intention is to offer you a permanent contract afterward.

• The salary is up to scale 11 of the collective labor agreement for universities of applied sciences. This means an amount of at least €4173,75 and a maximum of €6359,47 gross per month based on a full-time appointment.

• Holiday allowance of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.
